Driving to Porto Covo on the Western coast of Portugal we passed through Ferreira where we saw a dark skinned man riding sidesaddle down the main street and managed not to photograph him.
We later stopped for picnic lunch by the roadside in a pine forest and saw that the trees were being tapped for resin.
Porto Covo has a charming little seaside town centre but is progressively being ruined by new development.
These two old boys have an umbrella as a sunshade.
The Atlantic coast is rocky and similar to Cornwall with the addition of prickly pears and other exotic plants.
After a couple of days exploring the sand dunes and rocky coastline we left to meet some English friends in Olhao on th southern Atlantic coast. We all hope this town is not typical of the Algarve. An industrial port, it does not have much to offer the tourist apart from some interesting hack streets with some quirky old buildings and good fish restaurants.
Oh - and some cheeky dogs .....
and some graffiti........
The huge campsite was just about full - mainly English big white campervanners and buses "overwintering". We had a couple of enjoyable days eating, drinking and chatting with our friends before we left to make our way back to Spain and meet the family in Andalucia.
